Germanium, also identified by it's symbol Ge, is a metalloid with the atomic number of 32. It is hard-brittle, gray-white and lustrous. It has an atomic mass of 72.63 and a density of 5.35.

Ge's melting point is 938.3 °C, while it's boiling point is 2820 °C. Germanium's electronegativity is recored as 2.01 on the Pauling scale.


Under standard conditions (to the right) it is seen as silvery-white with a metallic luster and a crystal structure similar to that of a diamond.
